Music Methodology
My methods used in teaching are mostly free flow, where I aim to develop your natural instincts in music by listening and finding notes when playing the keyboard, guiding you along the way. There is also an element of theory work where you will learn basic chords and scales. Everything taught however will be visual, where you will eventually become familiar with notes across the keyboard. You will also be in control where you decide what you wish to learn from my own song set for beginners to the songs you know and would like to learn. You may even simply wish to learn the chorus of a song or a specific section and then move onto a different song as an example, which will keep you interested all the way.
Keyboarding
The course differs from learning the piano which is why it is called keyboard lessons rather than piano lessons, where I will be teaching you different techniques when playing different sounds as well, such as playing synths, trumpets, guitars, strings and bass on the keyboard. This includes the way in which you play the sounds by incorporating elements of groves, touch sensitivity, effects and pitch bend as examples. This will also help you further if you ever wish to go into music production.
Live Music
The next level would be to develop your skills further to be able to play in a band if this was ever a path you wish to take in your music journey, such as being consistent in playing to the tempo to keep up with a drummer or any other type of percussionist, learning how to play backing music such as chords or bass to support the rhythm element of the music or by playing melodies in sections of the music. I will also show you how to play with a vocalist in finding their vocal note and octave on the keyboard to then being able to support the vocalist when performing live.
Music Production
Once you have advanced and progressed in your keyboarding skills, can you then learn music production if you choose. This will include learning about a studio setup, to recording music by sequencing music via midi, which is in basic terms about recording the different elements of a song onto different channels and playing them together such as backing chords, strings, pianos, bass and drums, which is the make up of any song. This part of the course will include recording chords, melodies and beats through to composing and mixing.
